Throwback Thursday 1

Throwback Thursday 1

Sometimes it's just great to listen to some old songs, especially ones that you know all the words to. These are probably songs you've heard before, but some might be new to you. I just wanted to share a little more of my personal picks from the past with you.

First, we have a song by Reef of Fortune Family & Dylan Owen. It's called 'Dreams' Ft. Grace Kelly. I was driving in my car home from my exam this morning with my iPod on shuffle and this bad boy came up. The hook is pretty chill and these guys' flows are dope:

A Day To Remember is one of my favorite rock bands. I'm not really a fan of screamo stuff, but sometimes it can be good workout music. 'NJ Legion Iced Tea' is one of their songs that doesn't really have any of the hard rock/screamo vocals. If you like this song definitely check out their other stuff. Their cover of The Fray's 'Over My Head' is another of my favorites that I recommend:

'Pumped Up Kicks' is Foster the Peoples' most popular song. This cover by Cris Cab gives it an even more chill feel, almost reggae-like. I'm not saying I like this version better than the original, but it's pretty damn good. Check it:

These last two are songs by another one of my favorite upcoming hip/hop/chill artists, Mike Stud. He has put out some pretty sick tracks and continues to put out great collabs with other artists like Huey Mack and Kinetics. This song is called 'Happy Ending' which features hook sampling from MIKA's 'Happy Ending'. Although they have the same title, I don't know if I'd call it a remix:

This one is called 'Bottle It Up' Ft. Kinetics & One Love. It's pretty chill too, but it has a little more kick with the hook. Take a listen:

Hope you enjoyed. Check out some of the other music posts and promote my blog if you think others would like to hear my music picks! Thanks!

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 10

On Repeat Week 10

Week 10 is here! It's hard to believe it has been 10 weeks since I started doing this. I have had over 650 views on my blog since the beginning, which doesn't seem like a ton, but the fact that some people have actually checked my stuff consistently is pretty awesome! Let's begin!

FOR LAST WEEK'S ON REPEAT CLICK HERE: On Repeat Week 9

First off, we have an uplifting house song by 4 Strings Ft. Ana Criado called 'Breathe Life In'. The main melody just has a happy feeling about it. The vocals are smooth and the modulation gives the song a decent amount of kick. Check it:

Next, we have the Kat Krazy remix of 'Parachute' by Matthew Koma. Matthew Koma was featured in Zedd's huge hit 'Spectrum' which is why he may sound familiar. This remix turns this alternative song into a huge dance song. Kat Krazy has a knack for giving alternative songs a little juice:

Here's an interesting collaboration from 50 Cent Ft. Eminem and Adam Levine. It's called 'My Life'. The beat is pretty raw, just a fat bass and drums. Not sure how I feel about the hook, but it's decent:

This is 'Swoon' right off of Timeflies' latest EP 'One Night'. The duo has become pretty big over the past couple years. If you've never heard their stuff, it's a mix of rap, pop, and electronic. I definitely recommend checking out some of their stuff. I'm going to thrown in their song 'Turn it Up' as well, since it's one of my favorites from them:

Here's an energy-packed song from Krewella called 'Come & Get It'. She drops some crazy stuff and this one doesn't disappoint. If you've never heard her stuff, check her out. She's one of the best female dubstep/drum'n'bass artists in the game right now:

Huey Mack is a chill, upcoming hip hop artist. I can tell you he's going to be big soon. This one is his latest called 'Love Is Overrated'. It's pretty catchy, but I'll admit it doesn't highlight his true talent. He's sort of similar to Mac Miller, but his stuff is more chill rather than party music. Take a listen:

Well, I hope you enjoyed some music this week! Sorry if these aren't the greatest selections. I'm a little bit crunched on time coming off of a break, since I didn't accomplish anything in my time off. Only 10 days left of class though, so I'm hoping to have more time to focus on this blog! Make sure you check out other posts if you've missed them! Thanks!

Random Videos: Unlimited Music?

Random Videos

So between classes today, I was watching YouTube videos and happened to stumble upon this video about the question 'will we ever run out of new music?' I found the facts to be somewhat interesting, more or less. Probably due to the fact that I was dead tired this morning. But some of you might think it's interesting:

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 9

On Repeat Week 9

It's Thanksgiving week and I'm getting ready to head home to Chicago in the morning! That means I need a ton of music to get keep me going during the 4.5 hour drive. Good thing a ton of great stuff was just released! Here's your 9th week of music greatness!

FOR LAST WEEK'S ON REPEAT CLICK HERE: On Repeat Week 8

First up this week we have a song by Dead CΔT Bounce ft. Emily Underhill called 'Nothing to Say'. I've never actually heard any of his original stuff until this song. I had heard remixes by Wolfgang Gartner, but that was it. I like his style:

Next up, we have a remix of an alternative song called 'We Come Running' by Youngblood Hawke. This is the Milkman Remix. I really like the dance vibe compared to the original, even though the original is pretty good as well:

Next, we have the newest mixtape from French Montana. I really like his stuff and this mixtape is full of great songs. His choices of samples is great and his originals are dope. Check it yo:

This song called 'Today' by Odesza is super chill. From the description on YouTube, it's a great song to listen to at the end of a day. I believe there's a link to download Odesza's whole mixtape/album thing on the video page on YouTube so definitely check it out and give his stuff a listen:

If you like J. Cole and have his song 'Work Out', you'll probably like this. This is a remix called 'Werk Out', remixed by Overwerk. He gives the original a lot of craziness and makes it so much more dynamic. There is a free download link in the description on the YouTube page so get this:

Here is an EP that I found on thissongissick.com. The EP is called 'Supertrail' and it's by one of my favorite artists Savoy. It was released back at the end of August, but I just downloaded it today - ***(For some reason the SoundCloud player embed wasn't working, but here is a link to the page with the download link)***. This group puts out huge tracks with sick bass. Definitely check them out:

SUPERTRAIL

This is B.o.B.'s newest mixtape called 'Fuck Em We Ball'. It's damn good. If you haven't downloaded this yet, I highly recommend it. I've been a huge fan of his even before he got big, and he has improved his flow and beats so much. Check this out and download now:

We have a few singles by some popular artists to finish this week off. First, we have dance song from Sean Kingston, who hasn't put too much out recently. This one's called 'Rum and Raybans':

Second, we have a pretty catchy single from Ke$ha called 'C'mon'. Even if you don't really like her music, this song has a great melody. I'm not the hugest fan of her, but this one isn't too bad. Listen for yourself:

Well I hope this is enough to get you guys through the week! Definitely start following my blog if you enjoy this stuff! I'm really trying to put the effort in to give you music with download links so that you can have these songs to listen to, so bear with me as I start to figure things out! Check in midweek to see if I post updates or other stuff people. Thanks!

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 8

On Repeat Week 8

It's that time again! I've been doing this for two months now which is pretty hard to believe! Time has flown by, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. That means I'm going to have to load up with a ton of music for you to check out and listen to over the long weekend. Let's get to it.

FOR LAST WEEK'S ON REPEAT CLICK HERE: On Repeat Week 7

First up, we have another new release from Jakob Liedholm. I have insisted and will continue to insist that he is going to be huge. This is a remix he just dropped of Example's 'Close Enemies'. It features his electro-house style and makes this a great song to listen to:

Next, we have a song by Aaron Lewis. It's called 'Endless Summer' and it was released awhile back, but it was just rereleased on the deluxe edition of his album 'The Road'. Check it out:

This next song is a sick electro-banger by Parisyte called 'Meteor'. This is the original mix so it's pretty long, but the drop is awesome. I'm definitely going to look into some of his other stuff to see how good it is. Take a listen and judge for yourself:

'Miss America' is the newest single released on iTunes from J. Cole. It's pretty standard for him to have good lyrics and a tight flow, but this song is a great chill rap song. I'm going to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of some of the vocal sampling in this one though. Listen:

This next song has a pretty catchy hook. It's a hip hop song called 'Hell & Back' by Kid Ink Ft. MGK. This is the remix. It's a really chill song that was released on hotnewhiphop.com last Thursday. You can download it from there:

Kill Paris is a sick dubstep artist that has been making music for awhile now. He has released all of his music for free downloading on SoundCloud. You should definitely check him out! This is a remix he did of a Lana Del Rey song called 'Without You'. Lana Del Rey also released a full album this week on iTunes that you should check out:

This last song is the Radial Remix of 'Royal Oats' by Emil & Friends. It's catchy tune in itself as a chill electronic song, but this remix gives it a little bit of a pop that brings the song a little more life. Here you go:

Hope you enjoyed some music this week! If you enjoy this music please spread the word and tell people to check out my blog! I constantly check to see if people are looking at my blog to tell if it's worth my time to share this music rather than keep it to myself, so make sure you keep checking in if you like this stuff! Also, if you didn't catch the last midweek update, make sure you scroll down and check it out! Thanks!

More Music

UPDATE: This is the newest from dubstep duo Adventure Club. It's called 'Lullabies (Adventure Club Remix)'. The original song is by Yuna, a group that I don't really know too much about. You can download this song for free from the SoundCloud widget! Definitely follow Adventure Club on SoundCloud and Facebook for new releases:

So here's a couple extra songs I found this week. This first one is by Cazzette, a duo that had some great remixes out previously. This song called 'Beam Me Up' is a huge electro banger. This is the official music video:

This one came out last Tuesday. It's called 'Rest Of My Life' by Ludcris ft. Usher and David Guetta. It is an interesting mix of rap and dance music, but the drop/chorus is pretty catchy. Check it out:

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 7

On Repeat Week 7

Week 7 is here. Several of the sources I get my music from have put out a ton of great, new music this week. Get excited for a ton of great stuff. Also, be sure to check out the previous music posts for great songs from recent weeks. Let's get into it so you have some music to listen to during these long, boring election coverage shows.

FOR LAST WEEK'S ON REPEAT CLICK HERE: On Repeat Week 6

First up, we have a new remix by probably my favorite upcoming artist, Jakob Liedholm. The song is called 'Hungry Hearts' originally by Nause. This is his 'Feeded Hearts Remix'. He pumps in some of his electro-house style making this the sickest song I found all week. This is the radio edit, but definitely check out the full version:

This is a song remixed by one of my new favorite artists. It's called 'Float' by Pacific Air (formerly known as Ko Ko) and this is the Fat Rat Remix. I have another remix of the same song by Sound Remedy which is also a good version, but I like this one better. Definitely check out some other stuff by the Fat Rat too:

Next up, we have a song off of Saigon's album 'The Greatest Story Never Told' that dropped today. It's called 'Best Thing That I Ever Found' Ft. Lecrae and Corbett. It's a pretty smooth hip hop/rap song that has a catchy hook. The rest of the album is pretty diverse and I recommend checking it out:

This electro-house banger by Tommy Trash called 'Truffle Pig' is a good representation of the talent this kid has. I found this song on thissongissick.com today, but I've been following him on YouTube for awhile now and he is going to be big. Here's 'Truffle Pig' and another sample of his work 'Sunrise':

Phillip Phillips, the most recent American Idol winner, has his new album available for pre-order on iTunes now with a purchasable song called 'Where We Came From' that follows the style of his previous single 'Home'. It has the same folk/country/pop/rock feel to it. The album will be something worth waiting for. Here's the album preview:

Last, but not least, I have a preview of a song called 'Get What You Give' by Alex Kenji Ft. Manuel De La Mare and Jamie Lee Wilson. You don't really get to hear what the full drop is like, but the build and vocals are pretty good. I believe the full version is set to drop November 30th, so be on the look out for that:

I hope you enjoyed some of the music this week. Be sure to check in next Tuesday for more, and come back midweek to check for other posts about music, news, or other random stuff! Thanks!
