New Producer in Town?

New Producer in Ann Arbor

So, interesting story from Tuesday night. I was planning on attending the Adventure Club show at Necto in Ann Arbor, but due to unseen circumstances, I couldn't go. Long story short, I ended up selling my ticket to a random kid from Rochester, MI. It turns out that one of his friends also going to the show is a music producer named Robert Taylor. He gave me his contact information and I decided to check him out. He claims to be performing at Necto in the near future and I'm actually interested. This hour-long mix is from his SoundCloud account, and it is pretty damn good actually:

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 6

On Repeat Week 6

This is week 6 of music. A lot of great music dropped this week, and I also found a lot of great music from other various sources. I didn't have time to find download links this week, which I apologize for, but a lot of these YouTube videos have download links in their descriptions. You can also use YouTube converters to get these songs as well. Anyways, let's get into it.

FOR LAST WEEK'S ON REPEAT CLICK HERE: On Repeat Week 5

First, we have a song off of Calvin Harris's new album. It's called 'We'll Be Coming Back' Ft. Example. The whole album is great, although most of the songs have been previously released as singles or on other artists' albums. If you've never heard of Example, definitely check him out too because he has some great stuff. Here's 'We'll Be Coming Back':

Next up, we have a song by Tiesto & Allure called 'Pair of Dice'. This is the radio edit of the song that was released on iTunes a little over a week ago. It has a classic house anthem feel to it. It's definitely a little different than what I'm used to hearing from Tiesto and gets a little repetitive, but it's a great song regardless:

This week I'm throwing in a couple alternative songs from some bands I've listened to for years. My Chemical Romance just dropped a two song EP on iTunes labeled 'Number One -Single'. It doesn't feature a song called Number One for some reason, but it has this song called 'Boy Division' that has a classic punk rock feel to it. Hollywood Undead just released a single called 'We Are' that completely follows their rock-rap style. It's definitely their best song since their last album. Listen to both if you're an alternative/rock fan:

Bassjackers has a new song called 'Let's Get Weird'. It features their unique modulated bass lines and it has some pretty solid builds. There is a download link on the video page for this song. Definitely check out their other stuff like 'Bronx' Ft. Yves V. Listen:

Here's another banger that I found called 'Go Deep'. This is the Torro Torro Remix that will get you on your feet. The original is by Wax Motif Ft. Neoteric. The vocal samples fit perfectly with the bass and beat. It was released awhile ago if you check the UKF Music YouTube page, but it's pretty good:

This song is yet another house banger that will get you moving. It's called 'Living 4 The City' by Shermanology & R3hab. The drop hits pretty hard and the vocals are a nice midpoint between the hard-hitting mod lines. Check it out:

Hopefully you enjoyed some of this week's music. Keep checking back as I will try to update posts and post more music midweek! Also, check out the other weeks of music if you missed them! Thanks!

More Music

More Music

Here's a song by A$AP Rocky Ft. 2Chainz, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar. This is a sick collaboration called 'Fuckin Problem'. The beat is pretty chill and each artist adds their unique flow:

This one is called 'Committed to Sparkle Motion' originally by Discopolis, but this is the Dubvision remix. I found it a couple days ago. It's a great electro-house tune. I had never heard of Dubvision until I found this one, but I'm definitely going to check his other stuff out:

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 5

On Repeat Week 5

Week 5 is here. I've been doing some serious work trying to find the best songs for you all. I have so many to choose from, but I want everyone to keep checking in for post updates. I have decided to try and put up more songs midweek, but maintain the mass song-flow on Tuesdays. I am also going to try and find download links for songs starting next week. Hopefully, allowing you to download songs directly from my blog will make things a little easier for you all! Make sure you check out the other On Repeat posts as well!

FOR LAST WEEK'S ON REPEAT CLICK HERE: On Repeat Week 4

First up we have a straight club banger from David Guetta Ft. Nicky Romero. It's called 'Metropolis'. This one will definitely get you on your feet. I'm not exactly sure when it was released, but I just found it on YouTube a couple days ago. Check it out:

Next, we have a song called 'Compton' off of Kendrick Lamar's new album. If you haven't heard his stuff, definitely do some listening. The album called 'good kid, m.A.A.d. city' has some pretty chill songs. 'Poetic Justice' Ft. Drake is the most popular song on the album at this point, but the album has a lot to offer:

This song by Kenny Chesney came out awhile back, but I just heard it for the first time the other day. It's probably not new to any country fans, but the lyrics hit home with me. It's called 'Reality', and the song is about escaping the day-to-day grind. If you're in college, you know what I mean:

Cisco Adler has just released his new album 'Aloha'. The album has a really chill, reggae sound to it that makes you wish you were at the beach. I definitely recommend listening to the whole album. A couple of my favorites are 'Boom Boom Boom' and 'Tha Good Life'. This song, 'Classic', follows suit with the chill feeling:

'Let's Go Home' by Carousel is a soft, chill song. This remix by Sound Remedy maintains the soft feeling, but they add a little of their flavor to spice it up a bit. It is a great electronic remix of an excellent alternative song:

Finally, we have an unusual combination of artists - Steve Aoki, Lil' Jon, and Chiddy Bang - collaborating on an electro-hip-hop track called 'Emergency'. I saw the video for this song on YouTube a couple days ago, and I couldn't help but put it on here. It's not the greatest song ever, but the video is pretty funny:

I hope you enjoyed some music! I'm going to try and add more songs during the week, so keep checking in! Like I said before, make sure you check out all the older On Repeat posts for other good music! Thanks!

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 4

On Repeat Week 4

It's week 4 of music! This week was tough to choose what songs to post because there have been so many new releases. I enjoy introducing people to groups that aren't really big yet, but a lot of big name artists delivered. Hopefully, I can show you some of the highlights from this weeks massive inflow of music! As always, if you haven't seen the other weeks of music, be sure to check them out!

FOR LAST WEEK'S ON REPEAT CLICK HERE: On Repeat Week 3

First, we have a song off of Jason Aldean's latest album. The album called 'Night Train' is probably the biggest country album to drop this week. He's a great artist and proves that he's experienced in the country game with this set of songs. Some of my favorites on this album are 'Take a Little Ride' and 'This Nothin' Town'. You definitely have to check them out. This song is called 'Feel That Again':

Next up we have a remix of one of Calvin Harris's latest songs. The song called 'Sweet Nothing' Ft. Florence Welch is great on its own, but this remix by Dirtyloud gives it that extra dubstep punch that complements the soft vocals very nicely. I definitely recommend downloading the original, but if you're a fan of dubstep, this version is pretty damn good:

'Tidal Wave' Ft. Alpines by Sub Focus is another soft song, but it still has nice modulated basslines and a little bit of a drum'n'bass beat that gives it a smooth, uplifting vibe. Sub Focus makes some great dubstep remixes, but this song shows another side to their usual hard-hitting style:

This next song was one that I just happened to stumble upon while browsing the dance section on iTunes. It's called 'What Does Tomorrow Bring' by Starkillers and Richard Beynon. I don't really know anything about this artist, but this song is awesome. I'm definitely interested in doing some research to see what the rest of their music is like. I'll keep you all posted, but for now just enjoy this:

Pierce Fulton is an upcoming dance music artist that is about to be huge. He's currently on tour with Wolfgang Gartner and Popeska. They actually just stopped by Ann Arbor this past week I believe. Anyways, 'Sink or Swim' Ft. Bebe Rexha is a song he just dropped. It has a nice, chill feel to it which makes it such a great song to study to. Take a listen:

Obviously, I'm pretty stuck on dance music this week. There are so many great tracks that it's hard to not post them. But, for the sake of mixing things up a little bit, here's 'Thrift Shop' by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. If you haven't heard of them, you're missing out. This song dropped as a single back in August and it's on their album 'The Heist' that just dropped last week. You can't help but move when you hear the beat:

That just about wraps it up for this week's music! Hopefully you enjoyed a couple songs. I know I was a little heavy on the dance music this week, so I'll shoot for some variation next week. It's just so hard to not focus on one genre when there are so many good songs!!! Come back next week (and every week) for more music! Thanks!

What I Do Between Classes

What I Do Between Classes

So basically, I'm a lazy guy and if I'm not in the mood to do work (which is just about everyday when I have breaks between class), I just browse random stuff on the internet. My top three things to do are 1) check Facebook 2) read news articles on CNN.com or 3) watch random YouTube videos. Today, I decided that I'm going to post some of the videos I've watched this week so you can do so as well.

First, since the presidential/vice-presidential debates have been on in the past week, I thought this video was appropriate. I'm going to be honest, but I really just don't care too much about politics at this point in my life. I don't feel obligated to take the time to actually research and study issues and politicians' views. I don't want to speak for everyone but I have the impression that a lot of people my age are the same way. Regardless, everyone knows that debates can be pretty boring, but this video is basically what I was thinking while watching them:

Next, one of my favorite shows on T.V. is 'The Office'. If you've never seen it before, you are missing out. Definitely start from season 1 if you plan on watching it because the character development is what makes the show so awesome. This video focuses on two characters, Jim and Dwight, who are two of the employees at the office. They have a very special connection and they are consistently engaged in a prank war. This is one of Jim's latest:

Finally, this last one isn't really a video. It's just audio, but it is pretty creepy and tragic. Last week, a 17 year old boy from Texas murdered his mom and sister and called 911 to confess half an hour afterwards. His monotone voice makes the whole situation very eery. Although he was most likely in shock at that point, he is almost positively insane. The 911 dispatcher does a great job of keeping him on the phone for about 20 minutes until the police can arrest him. This isn't the whole call, but you get the point:

I definitely want to keep doing this sort of posting, so if you enjoy this let me know! Come back during the week to check up on new posts about news, music, or random stuff that I find interesting! Thanks!

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 3

On Repeat Week 3

This is week 3 of my music picks. If you haven't seen the first two weeks, make sure you check them out. I've gotten a pretty good response from people so far, so I'm going to continue to do this weekly! If you have any suggestions or you just want to let me know I listen to good music (which I already know), feel free to comment on these posts. Also, make sure you bookmark my blog and check it frequently for new posts and music!

Anyways, let's get into it. First off, we have another song from Ellie Goulding's new album. It's called 'I Need Your Love' and it's actually by Calvin Harris, but it features Ellie's amazing voice. You can listen to the whole album on iTunes now, and I definitely recommend buying it. There are a bunch of great songs on it:

Next up, we have a song from MGK. 'All We Have' ft. Anna Yvette has a catchy chorus and MGK's flow is just sick. This song is off of his new album that also just dropped. You have to check it out. This guy is going to be big. Some of my favorites from his new album are 'What I Do', 'Edge of Destruction', and 'Invincible'. This video isn't great quality so listen to the clip on iTunes for the full effect of its awesomeness - LTFU:

'The City' by Madeon has been out for awhile now, but I'm bringing it to you now. If you like electro/house music and you don't know who Madeon is, I definitely recommend checking him out. He has a lot of great upbeat songs that make you want to dance. 'Shuriken', 'Icarus', and his remix of 'The Island' by Pendulum are some of my favorites. Here's a sample of his style:

I've had this next song stuck in my head for a few weeks. My housemate that lives in one the rooms adjacent to mine, begged me to put this one on a playlist for a football pregame. It's called 'Cruise' by Florida Georgia Line. They're a group that's building up its rep in the country category. This song has the perfect title because it definitely makes you want to go for a ride down a country road:

This song is by one of my favorite dubstep groups, Adventure Club. It's called 'Retro City'. It has a pretty heavy drop with their unique modulated basslines. I just found out that they're coming to Ann Arbor within the month which got me in the mood to play some of their music. They have done a lot of great remixes, but they also have some excellent originals like 'Do I See Color'. Check them out:

Finally, it's the newest by Taylor Swift. Already number one on iTunes. Get rid of the artist name on iTunes and you honestly would not be able to convince me that it is her (or the genre of country, for that matter). When I listened to it for the first time I thought 'okay, this has her new pop sound - wait what's this - a build up?...*unexpected bass drop* WTF?' In the words of my other housemate - "This is going to be the new girls' anthem". I'd have to agree:

I hope you enjoyed this week's music. Please comment and let me know what you think!!! I'm always interested to see what music you listen to as well, so leave me a comment or link to some of your favorites! Come back next week for more, thanks!

MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 2

On Repeat Week 2

It's time for week 2 of good music. This week was tough to pick some good songs because there are so many new releases. A ton of big name artists dropped new albums and singles this week like Muse, Zedd, Matt & Kim, and Taylor Swift. Other upcoming artists like DJ Drama, Chris Rene, and The Vaccines also released new stuff.

FOR LAST WEEK'S ON REPEAT CLICK HERE: On Repeat Week 1

We'll start with DJ Drama who just dropped his album 'Quality Street Music'. He's not too big yet, but he's definitely got some talent. 'My Moment' is a song that's been out for awhile now, but I just heard it a few weeks ago via a friend. It's a good one, but the album has a lot more to offer. Here's a taste:

Next, we have the newest addition to Skrillex's OWSLA label, MONSTA. This group is going places. They have a different feel from some of the other artists on the label, but their first few songs are pretty good. It should be interesting to see what they do with their music now that they have Skrillex, Porter Robinson, and Zedd amongst others who can influence them. I've been listening to their song 'Holdin' On'. Skrillex and Nero have already made a remix, but I like the original:

Jake Owen who has hits like 'Barefoot Blue Jean Night', has just released a new EP called 'Summer Jam'. One of the new songs 'Summer Jam' featuring Florida Georgia Line is one of those typical happy, upbeat songs that make you want to sit back and chill. Take a listen:

One of the bands I used to listen to a lot, Three Days Grace, has just released another powerful album called 'Transit of Venus'. One of the more popular songs on the album is 'The High Road'. It has a strong chorus that gets the blood pumping. Definitely a song that's going to get listened to a lot this coming week:

Finally, I have songs by Porter Robinson and Zedd. I'm going to see them live tomorrow night, so in preparation, I thought I would give you a couple samples. 'Unison' by Porter definitely puts you in a mood to rage. The soft voice sampling is a nice complement to the bass-filled drop:

'Spectrum' by Zedd is probably his biggest song so far. It's a classic electro-house song that makes you want to jump. The popularity of the song has sparked tons of remixes. Definitely listen to the original first because most of the remixes completely change the feel of the song, but listen to the 3lau remix as well as this remix by KDrew:

Well, I hope you enjoyed some of the music! Let me know what you think by commenting below!!! Come back for more next week, and keep checking in for other posts midweek. Thanks!
