MUSIC SERIES: On Repeat Week 12

On Repeat Week 12

This is week 12 of music for all of you dedicated readers/listeners! Finals week is here, and although it's a bitch, we all have to deal with it. Luckily, without classes, you have so much extra time to listen to music (and study)! I've just found a ton of great new music sources as well, so don't be surprised if there are even more updates in the coming weeks post-finals. Let's get started.

First, I have a new release from my favorite band, Blink-182. I've been following them for almost a decade now. They have a new EP that is set to be released next Tuesday, December 18. The EP is called 'dogs eating dogs' and this song is called 'Boxing Day'. It's kind of acoustic and it's sort of Christmas related, but it is pretty catchy:

If you're a fan of Madeon, you'll enjoy this song called 'Break Away Kicks' by TJH87. It's similar to Madeon's work in the sense that it is a very complex mix of electro sounds that give it a nice bounce and kick sound. This guy has some other great songs that you should check out if you like this one:

I had a craving for dubstep this week, so if the next few posts feel a little dubstep heavy, I apologize. This first one is the Mr. Moore & Space Prophecy remix of Natalia Kills' 'Mirrors'. The original is great, but the crunchy bass lines and "in your face" kick make this an awesome remix:

These two songs were posted on here previously, but I have some nice dubstep remixes of them. 'Clarity' by Zedd Ft. Foxes is a sick song on its own, but this is Aylen's dubstep remix. It doesn't drop as hard as most dubstep songs do, but it complements the vocals pretty nicely. Also, I have PRFFTT & Svyable's remix of Taylor Swift's 'I Knew You Were Trouble'. When I first heard the original, I knew it was a banger in disguise. These guys just give it a little more kick and highlight the song's true potential:

'Days Turn Into Nights' by Delerium is a super chill song, but Seven Lions steps it up a notch. Seven Lions is becoming one of my favorite artists, and he is constantly putting out new amazing tracks. He manages to maintain the chill, relaxed feeling in a lot of songs he remixes, but he knows how to add the subtleties that enhance songs. Check this one out:

Here's a banger for you all called 'Disque' by Firebeatz. This song will absolutely blow your mind. The drop is incredible and the whole song just emits energy. This guy takes modulation to a whole new level and gets crazy with it. Take a listen if you think you can handle it:

For a little break from the dubstep, here's 'Tip It Back' by Florida Georgia Line off of their new album that dropped last week. It was released previously, but I hadn't heard it until last Tuesday. It's a great country, party song that will lighten the mood on any occasion. I was planning on posting this one last week, but I couldn't find a video with decent quality. Here it is now:

Recommended by a friend, here's a song by rapper Yonas called 'Don't Give A Damn'. It's a catchy, party song that shows the talent of Yonas, off of his mixtape 'The Transition'. I'll tack on the rest of the mixtape as well, but definitely check out this guy's work. I'm a fan and I just found out about him today:

The Transition by YONAS
I put the code for the Yonas mixtape here. I've been having some issues with SoundCloud widget posts recently though, so let me know if there's a problem. Anyways, this is the early post, but I will make edits to include the newly released music tomorrow. I just wanted to get a little ahead. So enjoy this until I update it! Thanks!

UPDATE:

So I found another great song remixed by Seven Lions. It's called 'Still With Me' originally by Tritonal Ft. Cristina Soto. It was released awhile back, but was just rereleased on the UKF Dubstep album that came out a couple days ago. The smooth synth and vocals with Seven Lions' flowy basslines is perfection:

Here's a house anthem remix of Keane's 'Sovereign Light Cafe' by Afrojack. The main drop will definitely get you in the mood to put your hands up. I'm not sure if this is the whole version, but it's the best that I could find for now. Afrojack is an amazing artist, but I wish he would put out new singles more often:

This here is 'Clash', a club banger that I just found from Alesso. He is already a huge artist, but he is taking his music so much further than I had expected this year. With all of the great tracks he's put out this year, it's hard to believe he hasn't run out of steam. Give this one a listen through:

Big Boi just dropped his new album 'Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors' today. I put up his song with Kid Cudi called 'She Hates Me' last week, but here are two more of my favorites. The first is called 'In the a' Ft. T.I. and Ludacris. The second is called 'Lines' Ft. A$AP Rocky and Phantogram. Both are dope tracks:

I hope you enjoyed the music this week! Good luck with finals everyone! Oh, I also forgot to mention that if anyone has some picks of their own that they want featured on my blog send me an email with the title and artist. I'll review them and put them up in a future post if they're good! My email is: mckenrick18@gmail.com. Thanks!
